Number 7 Café is a location of the game Pitstop in Purgatory. Unlike the others, it is located somewhere outside Purgatory, far away from it.[1]
Description[]
The café is very cozy and rustic, with various shades of yellow and brown. Anything else that could be said about it until now would be merely speculation, so this article will avoid delving further into it's description.
In the Epilogue, you can interact with the following items: Outgoing Orders, Menu, Buy Something, Cupboard, Poster[2], Clock, Remm and The View (don't mistake for the other "view").
Guide's Route[]
In The Guide's route, after exposing the truth behind the various cycles that led Astrid to that point, he brings her to the Number 7 Café. There, unlike Purgatory, he doesn't have to share his attention with thousands of other newly-arrived souls, so he can focus on the conversation he's having with her.
Astrid still finds it difficult to trust him, and to try to convince her, he begins to expose his own impressions of her during the cycles they went through. With honesty, he admits a certain admiration for her empathetic personality, unrelenting in her quest to make everyone happy. She always mistrusted him, never taking his words at face value. And it's because of that intrepidity and compassion that The Guide sees in her the attributes needed to do what he does.
The situation is very bizarre, almost unimaginable, and for that reason Astrid asks why he's being so sincere, since apparently he never cared about any human before. He says that maybe he cares about one person, within the realms of what is possible for someone like him, at least.
And suddenly, he asks her for a dance. And despite the whole situation being completely crazy, she accepts it.
That leads to her inner monologue, which unlike the times in Purgatory, is not able to be heard by Guide, as his powers are diminished outside of it. He complains not listening (not for lack of trying, though) and they continue their conversation, Astrid wondering once again why she is so important to him.
Guide then explains about the truth behind Purgatory: the emotions processed in there are harvested and used as "food" for someone else (whom he personally, deeply, hates). With that energy, the person does absolutely anything they want, be it good things or bad things, creating and destroying without caring about the consequences. And even though he hates the nomenclature, 'God' is the word that best describes this creature.
Once again, Astrid doesn't understand what she has to do with this whole situation. And then he finally explains that thanks to her and her winning personality he was able to make the souls in Purgatory share heartfelt emotions and store it inside the objects she used during the routes. He offers her a place by his side in Purgatory, so that they can continue saving souls and thus divert the emotions contained in the objects of the possession of that "God", giving it to him instead.
It's clear that Astrid doesn't trust the plan, so The Guide, predicting that she would react in this way, sweetens the deal: If she joins him, she'll get her memory back. Tempted by the prospect of regaining what she's lost, along with potentially helping lost souls and humanity itself, Astrid begins to possibly relent. In addition, she learns that if she were to decline, The Guide would wipe her mind of everything that's happened, resetting her back to the very first day she arrived in Purgatory. He admits that while he doesn't want to, he'll have to find someone else to help him if she doesn't do so willingly.
Before thinking things through completely, The Guide warns that "God" is on its way, and while it can't sense his presence, it can most definitely sense hers. Realizing that she has to make a decision right away, she recalls her death at only 20 years old and all the things she never got to do or decide on her own, having been robbed of life so early. With that in mind, she begins to utter a sentence, but the screen turns to black.
Epilogue[]
In the epilogue, the game switches from Astrid's point of view to Volumnius'. He needs to meet her at the Number 7 Café, and that's where he meets Remm, who insists on helping him throughout the date because she's bored.
After convincing him to let her stay, he is free to interact with the scenery while she sits down and drinks coffee. When he tries to buy Astrid's favorite candy, there's no one at the counter and he doesn't know what to do. Again he is forced to ask Remm for help, who instructs him and so things continue to go smoothly until Astrid arrives.
She and Volumnius start talking, while Remm appears to be invisible to the latter. Remm keeps advising him to say certain things, and despite his reluctance, he remains obedient to what she says.
They talk about her reason for being late, and she muses about preparations for her next role, her passion for acting and her parents. The conversation ends with her asking him if he has thought of an answer to the thing and Vol seems still reluctant. Astrid ends up leaving, and he, frustrated, tells Remm he's going for a walk alone. Thus ends their interaction in the cafe, although the epilogue continues after that.
DLC: I'll Remember You[]
The DLC takes place after the events of Guide's route but before Astrid becoming a deity, being a great farewell to Purgatory's characters and a preparation for what will come next.
Before saying goodbye to everyone, Astrid asks Guide for a moment to prepare. Even though he doesn't like it, he ends up giving in. At that moment, the game switches point of view, showing Remm, who grumbles about something not being right.
Suddenly Volumnius appears (or rather is brought by her). She suddenly lashes out on him, frustrated, and he patiently asks why he was brought there, as Remm doesn't normally spend time with other people outside of the 'simulations' and she claims that the reason is that he is special. Volumnius has a hard time believing it, and that suddenly makes her very angry. He tries to explain that he's not used to being put on a pedestal, and that the only time he's felt like he's important for anything was with Astrid, and Remm sighs, a little frustrated that she can't compete with her.
Anyhow, the two put this argument aside and Remm says that she needs his help. She explains that something is happening at the "playground", which is a place far away from there where the souls of dead humans gather. Only people who are not special like Volumnius are there.
Disappointed but not surprised, Remm ends up answering Volumnius' question, and states that yes, Astrid is there. He asks why she never told him this, and she says that Astrid is held against her will thanks to a 'meanie', and that if it weren't for that she would have reunited them by now. Despite being God, her powers have limits. Vol has a hard time to believe, but Remm appeals to the fact that she hasn't let him down so far, which ends up convincing him. And then, she makes her proposal.
Remm has a plan to solve whatever is going on in Purgatory, and to accomplish it, she needs Volumnius' help. She promises that if he helps her, she will reunite him with Astrid again, and he accepts without a second thought - first, because he would do anything for Astrid, but also to repay her hospitality in Heaven. Remm then perks up with the prospect of make him her servant. Volumnius finds the nomenclature strange, but then again ends up giving in and trusting Remm.
He finishes the scene by admitting to himself that he's a bit naive and idealistic, but that he's not stupid. Despite his fear that the deal with Remm will turn out to be a mistake, the fact that the whole thing involves Astrid motivates him. He acknowledges that Remm has always treated him well, but also that there is something about her that annoys him, probably involving the fact that she talks a lot about love for humanity but has an obvious duality.
After that, the DLC continues as usual.
